Over the course of his interpretation, Kershaw locks in on the concept that, unlike Stalinââ¬â¢s Russia, Nazi Germany could not exist without Hitler. To establish his point, Kershaw had to balance between some long held theories regarding the ruling style of Hitler.As noted in class, history has taken to describing Hitler as being uninterested in the daily affairs (particularly related to domestic ones) of Germany, at times being described as a lazy dictator and by Hans Mommsen as a ââ¬Å"weak dictatorâ⬠. While Kershawââ¬â¢s piece does establish that he agrees with the depiction of Hitler being i ndifferent about daily affairs, it is clear that he does not support the notion that Hitlerââ¬â¢s rule was weak in any way. To delineate the concept that Hitler was not interested in the daily affairs that typical authoritarian rulers might have, Kershaw uses several examples.Kershaw states ââ¬Å"after 1933, as head of government he scarcely put pen to paper himself other than to sign legislation put in front of him by Lammersâ⬠(head of the Reich Chancellery). Another excerpt summarizes a day in the life of Hitler, essentially stating that he did not appear before lunch, only to review a few articles, then after lunch he would move on to recreational activities (films, walks) prior to and after dinner. Also included in this excerpt is Hitlerââ¬â¢s disdain for paper work and more importantly, bureaucracy. Based on the above, one might wonder how any argument can be made to show Adolf Hitler to be a strong leader.The answer, according to Kershaw resides in the concept of ââ¬Å"Working Towards the Fuhrerâ⬠. Beginning with the following quote from one of Hitlerââ¬â¢s former adjutants, Kershaw begins to establish his point: ââ¬Å"He took the view that many things sorted themselves out on their own if one did not interfereâ⬠. This philosophy runs parallel to many of Hitlerââ¬â¢s other ideologies, all in some way rooted to Darwinism. In this case, Kershaw points out that Hitlerââ¬â¢s non-interventionalist style as a dictator led him to wait for the best decision to come to the forefront from those who worked for him.Kershaw states that due to ââ¬Å"his instinctive Darwinismâ⬠, Hitler was unable to choose a side in a dispute until a winner emerged. Kershaw is extremely effective in proving that Nazi Germany and Stalinââ¬â¢s Russia were more d ifferent than alike. To do so, he cites the ââ¬Å"systemâ⬠that was in place with Stalin. This system can be briefly described as having traditional bureaucratic qualities, clearly defined and logical goals, and the potential for a successor to be named after Stalin.In stark contrast to this, Germany under Hitler lacked any traditional bureaucratic qualities, an inability to settle into a conservative authoritarian state, or cease its need to dominate (among a string of goals that lacked boundaries). All of the above begin to shape Kershawââ¬â¢s argument that Nazi Germany was incapable of reproducing itself without Hitler at the helm. It can be argued that Germans were more tied to Hitler than Germany itself. The country began to pursue the realization of ideological aims that were located within the person of Hitler.The fact that Nazi Germany lacked any structural order only served to advance the personal goals of Hitler. Essentially Hitlerââ¬â¢s desire for radicalizati on became policy once those below him were given autonomy to carry out his will. As discussed in class, essentially everyone in Hitlerââ¬â¢s regime reported directly up to him. Hitler encapsulated this by saying ââ¬Å"For us the Idea is the Fuhrer, and each Party member has only to obey the Fuhrerâ⬠. As a byproduct of this, these individuals were given a certain level of autonomy in satisfying the Fuhrerââ¬â¢s demands.Hitlerââ¬â¢s refusal to give edicts led to the concept of ââ¬Å"Working Towards the Fuhrerâ⬠as a means to keep Germany in lockstep with the wishes of its leader. Werner Willikens, State Secretary in Prussian Agricultural Ministry, established this concept, stating that one should not wait for orders to come down from leadership. Instead, it is the duty of the individual to attempt to work towards the Fuhrer with Hitlerââ¬â¢s spirit in mind. This level of autonomy is the impetus behind the extreme acts committed by Nazi Germany.Set out with a go al of national redemption achieved by racial purification and expansionism, those who worked to carry out Hitlerââ¬â¢s will were given the power to do so by any means necessary. This led to further radicalization of Nazi policies, as all who worked toward the Fuhrer were left to interpret what means should be used to carry out their duties. Within the framework of the stateme nt above, Hitler took on the role of indirect leader of the radicalization. The main character in the movie is Deckard- the Blade Runner. He is called for a special mission after his retirement, to ââ¬Å"air upâ⬠four replicants who have shown flaws and have killed people. There are many arguments and deceptions in the plot that reveal the possibility Deckard to be a replicant. Roy is the other leading character of the movie. He appears to be the leader of the replicants- the strongest and the smartest. Roy kills his creator Tyrell. The effect of his actions fulfils the expectation of the spectator for a ruthless machine. The main deception in the plot is also the main cause that holds the identity of the blade razor à Deckard, unrevealed through the continuance of the movie. The first assumption that comes to the mind is that Deckard is not a replicant because he is the one that Bryant calls to hunt replicants. But there also appears the question what makes him the most proper to oppose the consummate replicants. The possibility Deckard to be a replicant makes him the worthiest person for the assignment. Deckard recommends Holden who is also a replicant assuming the words of Bryant -ââ¬Å"He can bread okay as long as no one unplugs himâ⬠. In most of the chapters Deckard acts as a human being. He has feelings for Rachael, and later in the movie he is the one that shows her how to behave in action for which she is not programmed for. Because Rachael saves his life Deckard doesnââ¬â¢t accept her like a replicant, which he has to hunt. On the other side if Deckard was a replicant older product ion than Zhora, he shouldnââ¬â¢t be smarter than Zhora and to recognize her because of sexual context. The effect of deception in the plot about Deckardââ¬â¢s identity awakes the imagination of the spectators and keeps interest in the plot. Another form of deception in the plot is Royââ¬â¢s behavior at the final of the movie. It says that the garbage men are wearing red plastic blazers this is a cheap and not very nice way of dressing and distinguishes them apart from everyone else and diminishes them. It also says looking down on into this is not meant to be a good thing as it shows that the garbage men are high up and the desired level is in a sporty car close to the ground. The second verse goes into detail about how the elegant couple look. The writer describes the man in a hip three piece linen suit this tells us that the couple are richer then the garbage men as there is a direct comparison between the red plastic blazers and hip linen suit. The author writes the young blond this is showing a sign of wealth because only the rich could afford to die their hair blond. Also he says they are on the way to his architects office this shows wealth. Not many people have personal architects and a poor person could not afford to hire and architect. The third says how one of the bin men is old and has grey hair and the other is the same age as the man driving the Mercedes. The older man was described by saying he looks like gargoyle Quasimodo this means he is hunched back and look old and hard done by. The younger one has many similarities with the Mercedes driver as the both have long hair and sunglasses, and are around the same age. The final verse says how the bin men were longing to be the people in the car and how if things were different they could be. Its also says, holding the four together if any thing was possible this is saying that anything could happen if only the bin men had had the same chances and opportunities. The poem was written to show how America is not a democracy. The young bin man could have had the same chances as the Mercedes driver so this is backing up the point that the country is not a democracy. Throughout the poem he compares what the rich couple have and what the poor bin men do not. If the country was a democracy and every thing was fair and everyone had the same chances, and obviously they didnt have the same chances. The theme through out is what some have and what others dont and this is shown by how the people have different possessions. Both poems show how writing a poem can express a message to all its readers and show how a good poet can use words to change peoples feeling about everything, and anything.
